Adult Bible Fellowship Groups - Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I join a Small Group?
At Kirkland Nazarene we want to see people become authentic followers of Christ.
A small group (typically numbering around 10 people or less) is a place where
this process thrives! When Jesus went about making disciples he did it in a
small group. He went out and picked a few people who had the motivation and
desire to hang out with him. That is what we are trying to do with the small
groups here at Kirkland Nazarene: create an environment where people can grow to
live and love like Jesus!

Our worship services and the Pastor's message on Sunday are very important to our life as a church, but a Small Group is more interactive, providing room for discussion, asking questions, sharing, and caring for each other.
- It is within Small Groups that people feel they are a part of our family and connected to one another.
- It is within Small Groups that we often see the results and victories of transformed lives.
- It is within Small Groups that people have the opportunity to discover, practice, and develop both the practical and spiritual gifts that they have been given.
- It is within Small Groups that leadership qualities are demonstrated, sometimes for the very first time. This opens up more opportunities for ministry with KCN.
What do you do at a Small Group?
Each of the groups are unique because of group dynamics. Most of the gatherings last about 1.5 hours and primarily include discussion, prayer, reading the Bible, and relationship building. Service to others is also a part of small groups but is done on a more intermittent basis as decided by the group.
Will I ever feel put on the spot or uncomfortable?
We never purposely want to put people on the spot and at the same time we really encourage you to dive in and be an active participant. It is when people really engage that relationships with other group members are forged and one's understanding about what the Bible has to say about everyday life begins to unfold. The desire is that Small Groups will be a place where you will want to participate.
Can I visit more than one group?
Sure. In fact, we encourage it! We want you to be in a group that fits you and your needs. Things like location, schedule and "feel" of the group are all factors that play into connecting with the right group. Sometimes one just has to "try it on for size" before they settle in. That's ok, we recognize that fact. At the same time, out of consideration for those who are putting forth effort to facilitate/host a group, we ask that once you find a group that works, you stick with it for awhile. Remember, it takes time to get to know others and for them to get to know you. Consistent involvement will only help that process.
How do I get started in finding a group?
Glad you asked! Contact the church office at 827-5681 and they will be happy to put you in touch with those that can help you get started. We look forward to talking with you!
